I have just finished reading Manslayer, which is the 9th Gotrek and Felix book. Therefore, if anyone wishes to borrow the 9 first books or any number of them, I would gladly part with them.

Malekith interests me. However, I will finish Elfslayer which I already have. I'll let you know when I'm done. Which books would you want from? Every thing after the first omnibus?

But let me know and we can meet up i'll lend you Malekith, I work nights so i can meet up say like 1-2pm weekdays and I have weekends off.

Unfortunately yes. I wish they were more fun to play though.

Play against or with? They have some pretty tough units, after playing elves the next army I collect I want to be able to take a hit from say... a light breeze and still keep ticking. Plus I'm not a fan or magic, although chaos warriors come to mind, they have some nice modles and are beef cakes, dont know about thier cheese factor though.

Well you have to understand that Dwarfs are a tricky army. You either try and go fight people (which is what fluff suggests you are able to do) and find out that you are horribly out maneuvered by even the Empire or Chaos Warriors or really really out maneuvered by fast hordes like Skaven, or you play the army's strengths and shoot the be-Jesus out of the other player since by the time they get to you, you will outnumber them. Ive heard from Dwarf players that being the gunner is very boring. You don't need to move and you just roll dice. Victory will depend on who the enemy is and what his list is. If it is somehow immune to shooting, your in trouble. Otherwise, your good. And I know first hand that playing against these armies is very very boring. Oh course, this is rather extreme. I suggest that Dwarf players aim for the middle ground. Balanced lists, as long as the other is also balanced, can be successful and fun to play and play against, I'm sure.
Cowboy and I were talking about all this and we thought that Dwarfs could be allowed to March as if they were movement 4 (so 8'' while marching) and charge and maneuver at Movement 3, (6'' charges, 3'' for maneuvering). This way you could still GET to the enemy relatively fast, but once there, you have to be smart. I personally like this because it would suggest that, although Dwarfs are a little slower, they are very good at marching over long distances (they have high stamina). Of course, some points costs would have to be revised in some cases.
But don't let my ranting deter you from playing Dwarfs. I just hate playing against the player that decides to use the anvil and shoot you exclusively. After reading all of the published Gotrek and Felix books, I would love to play Dwarfs myself someday. It just seems a shame that the Dwarfs are so martial and honor-bound in the books and then some players just shoot you. It feels wrong. A bit of both is fine, but exclusive shooting seems out of place. Then again, pure fighty also neglects their advances in technology. Balance is the key!
